Lost $900 on a used Juniper switch lot, learn from my mistake
Bought 6 used EX3300s from a liquidator on eBay last month, looked like a steal at $150 each. Turns out they were all stuck in a weird firmware loop and 3 had dead PSUs. The seller had a no return policy on bulk lots, so I'm out the full $900 plus shipping. Test before you buy, ask for boot logs, and never trust 'pulled from working data center' without proof. Anyone else get burned by a bulk switch deal and have tips for vetting sellers better?
That $150 per switch price should've been the red flag right there. Bulk lots from liquidators are almost always a gamble because they're dumping stuff they couldn't sell individually. Always ask for serial numbers and boot logs before sending any money.
