Vent: Tried organizing my long boxes by publisher and it backfired bad

Last Saturday in my basement, I rearranged my collection of roughly 400 comics into publisher sections. DC here, Marvel there, Image separate. Took me about 3 hours. Then I went to find a specific issue of New Mutants from 1985 and realized I had no idea where it was because the alphabet was completely thrown off. Has anyone else had a sorting system that sounded good but turned into a nightmare?

Kinda feels like you're making this way bigger than it needs to be. You spent 3 hours reorganizing, spent maybe 5 minutes looking for one book, and now the whole system's a failure? Just flip through the box that seems most likely, you'll find it.

Whoa wait, you actually put 400 comics into new boxes and now you can't find anything? That sounds like a total nightmare. I sorted mine by publisher once and spent a week trying to track down a single issue of The Spectre. Never again. I keep everything in strict alphabetical order now, no exceptions.
