My long box collapse ruined 40 comics last Tuesday

I had this old cardboard long box on a wire shelf in my basement, and the bottom just gave out around 8pm. About 40 issues hit the floor, some with wet spots from a leaky pipe I never noticed. The plastic bags did nothing once the cardboard corners bent. I spent the whole next night re-bagging and sorting, but 12 issues have creases you can't fix. Who else has had an entire collection go sideways from a cheap storage bin, and what do you use now that actually holds up?

Blame the cardboard box, but honestly that leaky pipe was gonna wreck stuff no matter what you stored it in, so maybe point a finger at your basement setup instead of cheap bins. I still run long boxes on wire shelves and haven't lost a single issue in 15 years, so good storage ain't rocket science.
