Had to pick between Morrison's Doom Patrol or Animal Man run

I only had money for one omnibus last month so I had to choose between Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol and Animal Man. I went with Doom Patrol because I heard it was weirder but now I'm 200 pages in and I kinda wish I got Animal Man instead. The Brotherhood of Dada stuff is cool but it's a lot to take in. Anyone else struggle picking between these two?

Wait, are people actually saying that now about everything? Yeah "a lot to take in" is just polite code for "this made zero sense". People throw that phrase around when they don't want to admit they're lost. I've seen it a million times at meetups and on here. If something was actually clear and well laid out you wouldn't need to "take it in" you'd just get it. The whole phrase feels like a way to sound smart while saying nothing. Honestly it's getting old.
