Poured boiling water straight from the kettle for 8 years and my brother in law finally said something at Thanksgiving
My brother in law watched me make coffee at his place in Dayton over Thanksgiving and just flat out said "you're burning it, man." I had no clue what he meant until he showed me his kettle has a little thermometer on the lid and mine just boils and dumps. Turns out I was hitting my grounds with water way too hot the whole time, and the bitter taste I always blamed on cheap beans was mostly me. Now I let it sit for about 30 seconds before pouring and the same $9 bag tastes completely different. Did the temperature thing actually make a difference for you or am I fooling myself here?
