Appreciation post: I found out most coders start with Python now, not Java
I read a report from Stack Overflow that said over 25% of new learners pick Python first. Has your first language changed from what you expected?

Blue hello world windows sound like a bad dream lol. Guess some schools are still stuck in the past.

That report's a bit misleading, Java's still huge in colleges.

My freshman CS class at State had over 400 students and it was all Java. @troyjackson is right, it's still the default for teaching basics. The professor said it forces you to understand object oriented ideas without getting lost in memory management. I still see those blue "Hello World" windows in my sleep sometimes.
