Why does nobody talk about tool height offsets drifting after a long weekend?
Mondays at our shop in Toledo, 3 out of 5 machines will cut shallow by about 0.005 before the first re-zero. Spindles cool down, drawbars settle, and the whole assembly just sags overnight. Has anyone else built a warm-up routine that consistently fixes this before scrapping the first part?
3 out of 5 machines" sounds like a bad casino payout. I just leave a scrap block in the vise Monday morning and run the same 2 inch face mill pass three times until it stops cutting air. Takes longer than a coffee but beats scrapping the real part.
