Last Tuesday I had a 316 stainless job running and I got lazy, used a shim to set tool length instead of walking over to the presetter. Part came out 0.008 over on the bore and I had to scrap it. That one piece was worth about $140 in material and time. I've since made a rule that every tool change goes through the presetter no matter how rushed I am. Anyone else have a near miss like that make them change their setup routine?
