Talking to an old-timer at the tool crib in Cincinnati about his 'useless' indicator stand
He said he keeps it on the bench just to remind himself to check setups twice, because one rushed job cost him three days of rework. Anyone have a similar 'talisman' on their bench that keeps you honest?

That's a solid idea. My version is a chunk of scrap aluminum with a perfect hole drilled right through the side of it. Was in a hurry, didn't indicate the vise properly. Now it sits there as a paperweight. Makes you slow down for that first cut every single time. What's your reminder look like?

Mine's a steel block with a drill bit snapped off halfway in. Looks like a weird metal lollipop. It's my "measure twice, swear once" trophy.
