Swapped to ceramic end mills for aluminum roughing, not looking back

I spent two years running carbide end mills for everything, and I figured that was just the way it was done. Got tired of eating tool costs on a job that needed 400 parts out of 6061, so I finally caved and tried a 3-flute ceramic from a supplier at the Dallas show. Ran the same feeds and speeds at first, and it chipped like crazy, nearly binned the whole setup after the first 10 parts. Then I bumped the RPM up to 14k and increased the chipload instead of babying it, and that thing ripped through the rest of the lot without a single replacement. The surface finish was actually smoother too, which I did not expect. Blew my old cycle time from 18 minutes down to 11, so the higher bit price paid for itself before lunch. Has anyone else had luck pushing ceramics on softer stock, or is it just for the hard stuff?
