Had a lightbulb moment about tool offsets while eating breakfast
Watching my kid spread peanut butter got me thinking about how I always zero off the wrong surface on the lathe. Took me 6 months to realize I was compensating for the same .003 inch mistake every damn time. Anyone else catch themselves repeating a bad offset habit without noticing?

That constant compensation thing is a classic trap, most of us have been there. The trick is to double check your zero point against a known reference part before every job, not just trust the numbers. Once you make that a habit, that .003 becomes a non issue real quick.
