Chip auger snapped clean in half during a 12-hour run on a Mazak today

It was making that weird squealing noise for about 20 minutes before it gave out on a stainless job, and now I'm sitting here waiting for maintenance to fab up a replacement has anyone else had an auger fail mid-cycle like that?

Had a loader bucket crack right down the weld seam once, same kinda sudden failure vibe.

Man, that's exactly the kind of thing that makes you question your whole weld process. I started preheating the steel on thicker stuff after a similar failure on a bucket ear. Cut my failure rate way down just by warming the metal before laying the bead.
