My rain barrel split at the seam after one harsh winter
The plastic cracked right at the bottom joint last February, dumping 40 gallons of stored water onto my driveway in one night. I patched it with a rubber boot seal and it held through summer, but I'm wondering if anyone has tried a metal tank or just going with a collapsible bag instead.

Man, same thing happened to mine last year. Patched it twice and it just kept finding new ways to leak. I ended up switching to a cheap metal trough and honestly it’s been way less headache so far.
