Learned that shipping cargo by boat creates way less carbon than air freight

I was looking up how much pollution different transport methods make after a package from overseas showed up in 2 days. Found out a cargo ship makes about 10 grams of CO2 per ton per kilometer. Air freight is over 500 grams. That is a huge difference I never thought about. Makes me wonder if online stores should give you an option to pick slower shipping on purpose to cut down emissions. Has anyone else looked into this and changed how you order stuff?

Bet my 2 day shipping just funded a small country's carbon footprint.
