Vent: Homeowners keep asking me to clean their gas fireplace logs like they're wood
This happened twice last week alone. One lady in Aurora wanted me to scrub the ceramic logs with a wire brush. Told her those things are designed to self-clean from the flame. She didn't believe me until I showed her the manual on her own unit. Anyone else deal with people who think gas fireplaces work the same as wood?

Proper ceramic logs can get damaged if you go scrubbing at them with a wire brush, so you probably saved her a costly mistake. Some folks just can't get past the idea that a fireplace needs cleaning the old way.

Right, because nothing says "relaxing evening by the fireplace" like scrubbing fake logs with a grill brush. I had one guy ask if I could vacuum out the "ash" from his gas insert - there's nothing in there but dust and maybe a dead spider. Honestly, next time someone asks me to clean ceramic logs I'm just gonna hand them a toothbrush and say good luck.
