TIL more chefs are switching to ugly produce for specials to cut waste.

It's a smart way to use stuff that usually gets tossed, and it tastes just as good, lol.

Finally catching on to what home cooks have known forever (a bent carrot still tastes like a carrot). It's funny we needed a fancy restaurant special to make that seem okay. Guess it proves presentation really is half the battle.

Sure, home cooks get it, but saying presentation is half the battle misses the point. Supermarkets push perfect produce because it sells better, plain and simple. Fancy restaurants making ugly veggies cool is just a trend, not some deep truth. The real issue is how we value food based on looks, not taste. That's a hard habit to break, honestly.

It's wild how supermarkets trained us to think only perfect looking food is normal. The marketing for that stuff really messed with our heads.
