The time I dropped a whole hotel buffet chafing dish in front of 40 guests

I was working a brunch event at the Marriott downtown and somehow the handle gave out while I was refilling scrambled eggs, sending it crashing right by table 7. How do you even prep for something like that with a straight face?

omg "the handle gave out" is wild. my friend was a server at this fancy wedding and she had to carry a big tray of champagne flutes up some stairs. one of her heels caught the carpet and she went down like a ton of bricks, glasses everywhere, champagne all over the bride's mom's dress. she said the whole room went dead silent for like 5 full seconds before anyone moved.
