Tried to fix a sticky keyboard with isopropyl alcohol and melted a keycap instead
Happened last Tuesday. My cheap Logitech keyboard had a jammed spacebar (from a coffee spill a few weeks back). Watched a YouTube guide, grabbed 70% rubbing alcohol from the drawer, and dabbed it on with a q-tip. Well, the alcohol ate right through the plastic on the 'P' key. Left a weird cloudy patch that feels sticky now. Guess I shoulda used 99% or just taken the key off first. Anybody else ruin something with the wrong cleaner?

My buddy ruined a baking dish with oven cleaner once.

Three out of four oven cleaners warn about aluminum on the label but nobody reads that fine print until it's too late. @verab28 your buddy probably grabbed the heavy duty stuff meant for a self-cleaning oven instead of the gentle one for glassware.
