Old monitor, dead caps, fixed with a $6 kit

My 2012 Dell monitor started flickering last month and my local repair guy quoted $80 just to look at it. I watched a YouTube video, swapped out the swollen capacitors on the power board with a kit from eBay for six bucks, and it's been running perfect for two weeks now. Anyone else tried recapping instead of tossing a display?

$6 and a YouTube video beats $80 plus the "diagnostic fee" that would've probably ended with them saying you need a new monitor anyway. Sounds like the caps were just throwing a fit, classic teenage electronics tantrum. Now I'm half tempted to go hunting for dead monitors on Facebook Marketplace just to see if I can resurrect more of them. Give it a week and you'll be the neighborhood electronics whisperer, bringing old Dells back from the grave. Just don't get cocky and start recapping your coffee maker next, that's a slippery slope.
