Unpopular opinion: you don't need to roll out every drop of adhesive on stairs
An old installer named Ray in Bakersfield told me back in 2019 to stop flooding stair treads with glue and just focus on the nose and the edges, and I thought he was crazy. Fast forward 6 years and hundreds of stairs later, I've never had a callback for a loose tread when I did it his way, but I did have two peakers when I loaded the whole tread like I learned in the beginning. Anybody else cut back on adhesive on stairs or am I the only one doing it this way?
There was a thread on some flooring forum years back where a guy tested peel strength on treads with different glue patterns, and the full spread actually failed more at the nose. Something about the glue not letting the tread flex with the stair.
