Update: That time I ignored the 'always use a level' rule on a fence in Tacoma

Had a post set 2 inches off, so I shimmed the whole rail with cedar wedges cut from scrap. Anyone ever fix a major plumb mistake without a full redo?

Oh man, I've been there! I once had to fix a post that was way out by using a hidden metal bracket screwed into the back. It was ugly but it held for years.

Yeah, that hidden bracket trick @west.alice mentioned is solid for a quick fix. Had a fence post leaning bad last spring and did something similar. Used a heavy duty corner brace and some long deck screws right into the good wood. It's definitely not pretty to look at, but sometimes you just need it to hold. That post hasn't moved an inch since.

But that's just a band-aid fix.
