Tried a trick with blue tape for scribing baseboard and it actually worked
Was fitting some tricky baseboard around a stone fireplace and the gaps were driving me nuts. I put a strip of blue painter's tape on the back of the board, traced the wall contour onto it with a pencil, and cut that line with a knife before transferring it to the wood. Anyone have a different method for tight scribes on uneven surfaces?

Oh man, I wish I had known that trick LAST weekend! I was trying to scribe a piece of trim to my super wavy old plaster wall and ended up with a cut that looked like a kindergartner did it with safety scissors. I had sawdust everywhere and a gap you could hide a pencil in. Your tape idea sounds like actual magic compared to my sad, guess-and-check method.

Ugh, that sounds so frustrating! Did you end up getting the trim to fit at all, or is it still a mess?
