Dropped $1,800 on a coding bootcamp in 2022 and I'm still mad about it
I finished the 12 week program, applied to 60 jobs, and got zero callbacks, not even a rejection email from most of them. One guy in my cohort who actually got hired already had a CS degree, so the certificate did nothing for the rest of us. Save your money and build real projects instead, has anyone here actually seen a bootcamp cert get someone hired?
I did the free route after a $200 Udemy course led nowhere. Spent about 8 months building 3 small apps people actually used, a grocery price tracker and two others, and put them on my resume with links. Got 2 interviews off that, and the second one turned into a help desk job where they cared more about me showing the apps than any paper. The bootcamp story fits a pattern I keep seeing, the cert alone does nothing but a portfolio you can point at does. What kind of projects did you end up building after the program?
