My neighbor's tarp setup saved my wagon from a rough patch of weather in Erie
Last month I had to park my old wagon outside for nine days while my garage floor got redone, and I was sure the rain would wreck it. My neighbor Ray let me borrow his heavy tarp and showed me how to tie it down so the wind wouldn't whip it around, and the car stayed bone dry the entire time. The cheap tarp I almost used would have shredded in the first storm. It made me think a lot of us skip the basic stuff and jump straight to fancy covers. What do you all use when a car has to sit outside for a while?
Sounds like Ray deserves a plate of cookies and maybe a medal, because tarps are one of those things nobody thinks about until the wind turns your cheap one into confetti. I learned that lesson the hard way with a blue tarp that flapped itself to pieces overnight and left little plastic bits all over the lawn. My trick now is to double up the rope and toss a couple of pool noodles over the edges so the tarp doesn't rub the paint raw. Bungee cords alone are a trap, by the way, since they stretch and snap back like a slingshot when you least expect it. Nine days dry is a win, but I bet Ray checked that thing every morning like a nervous dad.
