Picked the $40 foam pad over the $180 inflatable for a 3 night trip in the Uintas, and my back survived
I kept reading reviews about inflatables popping and just went with a cheap closed cell pad instead. Slept on it 3 nights at 9,000 feet near Mirror Lake and it never deflated once. Anyone else still hauling foam out there, or am I the last holdout?
Still rocking a foam pad here too. Mine is a cheap blue one from Walmart that I have had for years. It weighs nothing and I never worry about a leak in the middle of the night. People act like you need fancy gear to sleep outside but my back has been fine on foam since I was a kid. Sure it is not soft like a bed but you get used to it after the first night.
