Serious question, did I mess up not cleaning the inside of a lens for 12 years
I used to say never open a lens unless you have to, that dust inside does not show up in photos anyway. Then a guy dropped off a 35mm at my bench in Boise that he swore was soft, and I cracked it open just to check the rear element. There was a thin fog on the inner glass, took me 20 minutes with a blower and a microfiber and his test shots came back sharp. Now I am second guessing every lens I ever told people to leave alone. How do you all decide when it is worth going in?
