Pro tip: use a rubber band to grip stuck lens rings, saved me 3 hours last Saturday

Had a 50mm f/1.4 that wouldn't budge on the focusing ring. Tried a filter wrench, suction cup, even freezing it for 20 minutes. Nothing. Then I remembered an old trick from a repair guy in Portland: wrap a thick rubber band around the ring, then twist. The rubber gives you grip without marring the metal. Took 10 seconds. Has anyone else got a cheap hack that beats expensive tools?
