From my bench, skipping the loupe for focus screens has never failed me

I just hold it up to a window and adjust until the grid looks sharp, saving tons of time.

That phone light trick works even better with a small piece of white paper to diffuse it.

Try using your phone's flashlight if no window is handy, works every time for me.

But what if you're in a totally dark space? Phone lights often don't reach far enough to be useful. It's a good trick, but not foolproof.
