Walked into a Best Buy in Boise last Saturday and their whole TV wall was zip tied to one giant power strip
Two hundred cables, one strip, and a employee told me they gave up untangling it a year ago, so how bad would it actually be to just do the same thing behind my desk?
gave up untangling it a year ago" is exactly why you shouldn't copy them. That giant strip in Best Buy is a fire waiting to happen and nobody there cares because it's a store, not a home. If one TV shorts out, the whole wall dies and they just shrug and call a guy. At your desk, one sketchy strip with every charger, monitor, and lamp plugged in means you're rolling the dice every time you leave the house. Do it right, spend twenty bucks on a couple strips and some velcro ties, and you'll never think about it again.
