Why does nobody talk about how long title searches can take?
I'm closing on a house in Phoenix next month and the title search has been dragging for 3 weeks now. The seller's realtor keeps saying it's normal but my buddy in Austin said his took only 5 days. My lender is getting impatient too. Is this just a local thing or did I get a slow title company? What's the longest any of you had to wait on a title search?

@valwest nailed it. Took me 4 weeks once in Flagstaff, drove me crazy.

It's wild how much this stuff can vary by city or even by block, kind of like how some places inspect your car in 10 minutes and others take a whole afternoon for no good reason. Definitely check if the title company is backed up or if there's something weird in the county records, because three weeks feels like they're running on "eventually" time.
