Rant: I skipped the sewer scope inspection to save $300
Found out the main line was collapsing after we closed, and the fix cost over $8k. Anyone else get burned by skipping a specific inspection?

Saving three hundred bucks to risk an eight thousand dollar problem is the kind of math that only makes sense at three in the morning. That's like skipping a ten dollar oil change and being shocked when the engine blows up. Congrats, you just paid the world's most expensive stupid tax. At least you got a great story to warn the rest of us with.

Oof, that's a brutal lesson to learn the hard way. I feel for you, that kind of surprise bill is just gutting. My buddy had a similar thing with an old chimney flue they didn't check... cost him a fortune in water damage later. It really does make that few hundred bucks seem like nothing.

Yeah that surprise bill is the worst. Get a sewer scope next time, it's cheap compared to fixing a line.
