Had to pick between a fixer-upper with a big yard and a move-in ready condo

We were looking in the Denver suburbs with a budget of $425,000. One house was a 1970s ranch that needed a new roof and kitchen, but had a half-acre lot. The other was a 2015 condo with new appliances and no yard work. We went with the condo because the inspection on the house showed foundation issues that would have cost $25,000 to fix. It's been six months and I don't miss the yard work, but I do miss having a garage. For those who chose the move-in ready option, do you ever regret not getting more space?

Missing a garage in Denver means my car doors have frozen shut three times this winter already. I keep my ice scraper in the hallway like some kind of sad trophy. The condo life is fine, but I'd trade my fancy new dishwasher for a dry place to store a lawnmower I don't even own anymore. At least I'm not pouring money into a foundation pit, so I guess I'll just keep chipping ice and complaining about it.

That foundation issue sounds like a bullet dodged, but do you miss the garage more than you thought you would?
