My old band saw finally gave up the ghost on a big beef quarter last Tuesday
I was breaking down a 200-pound side of beef for a local restaurant order when the motor just seized with a loud pop. It was a 15-year-old saw I got used when I started my shop. I had to finish the whole job by hand with a breaking knife and a cleaver, which took me an extra three hours. Anyone have a good lead on a reliable replacement that won't break the bank?

You finished a 200-pound side by hand? That's insane.

Man that's rough, finishing by hand sounds brutal. I had my old saw die mid-job last year and it's the worst feeling. For a good budget option, check out the used market for a basic Laguna 14-12, they're built like tanks. Quinn_Nguyen is right though, you must have arms like a blacksmith after all that hand work.
