Watched my buddy's cheap gas station cable melt the port on his Anker last summer. He left it plugged in overnight and woke up to that burnt plastic smell, whole room stunk for days. The cable itself looked fine from the outside too, which is the scary part. Turns out the tiny wires inside were way too thin for the fast charge he was pulling. He got lucky it didn't torch his nightstand honestly.
