PSA: switched our 6 person shop from a $180/mo cable bundle to fiber for $89 and I'm still annoyed about the old bill
We finally got fiber run to the building in Dayton last month after putting it off for a year because the cable company kept saying it would cost us. Turns out the install was free and the plan is $89 a month for 500 down, versus the $180 we were paying for 100 down that crapped out every time it rained. The old provider locked us into a 2 year deal and I paid a $240 early exit fee, but I'll make that back by April. Biggest surprise was upload, we went from 10 up to 500 up and our cloud backups finish in minutes instead of running all night. If your shop is still on a coax bundle, at least call and ask what fiber costs now, the prices changed a lot. Has anyone here dealt with a provider that tries to tack on a lease fee for the router after the first year?
