I thought bonded DSL was dead for my shop until I saw the 99.9% uptime stat
I used to tell every business owner I know to dump DSL and get cable, no question. Then last month a rep from a local ISP in Boise showed me their service report: bonded DSL pairs hit 99.9% uptime over 12 months, while the cable line at my shop dropped 4 times in the same stretch. Two phone lines bonded together give me 25 down and 3 up, which is plenty for card payments and email, and it costs $85 a month with no contract. So now I am second guessing the whole fiber or bust thing. Has anyone here actually run bonded DSL long term and had it hold up?
Wait, four cable outages in a single year? I always assumed cable was the reliable one and DSL was the leftover junk nobody wanted. If bonded pairs are really holding 99.9 percent uptime, that makes me wonder who is actually keeping the lights on around here.
