Remember when we all used to do those super complex weekly spreads?
I dug out my first bullet journal from 2018 and saw a weekly layout that took me like 2 hours to draw with a ruler and three different pens. I tried to recreate it last week for old times' sake and just felt exhausted halfway through. It made me realize I've swapped all that art for a simple rapid log and a single black pen. Has anyone else gone back to an old style and found it just doesn't fit anymore?

Found my old one with watercolor borders and washi tape. Honestly, kind of miss the fuss. The simple log feels like work now.

Remember when we called it a diary, not a log. That fuss with borders and tape made it feel like a creative project, not a task. My plain notebook now just holds lists of what I did, not how I felt. I'm going back to my glue stick and some magazine cutouts this weekend.

Ha, "the fuss" - that's exactly it. My old spreads had so many borders and doodles I think I spent more time decorating than actually writing anything down. Now I just scribble "bought milk" and call it a day. Maybe I should add one sad little washi strip to spice things up?
