My neighbor (a retired engineer) told me to never use washi tape in my bujo, and I laughed at him

I ignored his warning and spent 3 hours last Sunday decorating my weekly spread with a cute floral tape from Michael's, only for the ink to bleed through 4 pages and smudge my entire habit tracker. Has anyone else had washi tape ruin their spreads, or is my cheap tape just cursed?

I get what you're saying but I actually use washi tape all the time in my bullet journal and it works fine for me. The key is to stick it on a piece of scrap paper first and peel it off a few times to remove some of the stickiness. Also some cheap tapes just have terrible adhesive that messes with the paper, so the brand matters a lot.

I actually read somewhere that some washi tape brands use a different adhesive depending on whether they're made for paper or for walls. Like, I think MT tape is known for being gentler on paper because it's a Japanese brand that's been around forever, and they specifically design it for journals. But then a lot of the cheap stuff you find on Amazon is just repurposed masking tape with a printed pattern, which is why it rips pages so bad. Idk, it's kind of a rabbit hole once you start looking into it.
