Had a friend tell me I was overcomplicating my bujo setup
My buddy Mark saw me reorganizing my collections for the third time last week and just said 'dude, you're spending more time setting up the journal than actually using it.' At first I was annoyed but then I realized he was kind of right. I had like 8 different trackers for things I didn't even care about. It hit different because he's not even into bujo stuff but he saw me stress over a notebook which is kinda the opposite of the whole point. Has anyone else had that moment where someone outside the hobby made you look at your system differently?

Hasn't this happened to pretty much everyone with a hobby at some point? I see it all the time with guys I know who get obsessed with their golf gear or people who spend more time organizing their garage than actually working on their cars. It's like we get so wrapped up in the process that we forget what the original goal was. Your buddy Mark just saw the forest for the trees. Sometimes an outside perspective is the only thing that cuts through the noise. Most hobbies are supposed to make life easier or more fun, not turn into a second job with spreadsheets.

Does your buddy ever actually use that spreadsheet to track stuff or is it just for show?
