I finally stopped chasing perfect cable management after 8 years

Used to spend hours making every wire invisible behind the back panel. Would redo it three or four times until it looked like a store display. Then last month my GPU started hitting 85C under load and I realized the airflow was choked because I shoved everything against the side. Now I just run them neatly along the edges with some zip ties and leave a gap for the fans. Has anyone else dealt with thermals getting worse after a cable cleanup?

Yep, been there. I had a Fractal Define case and spent an afternoon making everything look like a PC build show. Temps jumped 8-10 degrees on my CPU cooler and my PSU was running way hotter. Pulled the side panel off and realized my carefully routed cables were blocking the bottom intake and pressing against the GPU fans. Now I just run the main power cable along the edge of the PSU shroud and leave the rest loose behind the motherboard tray with a single velcro strap. Airflow beats looks every time.

Put some rubber grommets in the cable pass-throughs and ran the thick power cables behind the motherboard tray first. Left enough slack so nothing is tight against the back panel. Then used small wire ties to keep things flat against the case floor. Dropped my GPU temps by 7 degrees just by keeping that bottom intake area clear.
