Cash envelope system flipped my grocery bill in Memphis
For 2 years I was swiping cards at Kroger and my weekly total crept up to $210. Started pulling out $160 in cash every Sunday and when it's gone, it's gone. First month saved $95 just because I actually looked at prices and skipped the impulse aisle. Anyone else find that physical money makes you think harder than a card ever does?

Wait, hold on. $95 saved in one month just from using cash? That's wild to me. I track every single thing I buy in a spreadsheet and I still can't get my Kroger trips under $180. You're telling me the physical act of handing over paper somehow rewires your brain so you stop buying the $6 bag of jalapeno cheddar chips? Because that's the part I'm having trouble with. I've tried the envelope thing before and ended up sneaking a card out of my wallet when the cash was gone, like I was cheating on a diet. The fact that it actually stuck for you is honestly kind of impressive. Maybe my problem is I just like chips more than you do.
