Showerthought: I ate 3 meals a day in Bangkok for $6 total and my hostel had free water
Last year I spent a week in Bangkok and found out the hack is to skip the tourist spots and eat where the motorbike drivers eat. There was a street cart near my hostel on Soi Rambuttri that did rice with chicken for 40 baht, which is about $1.10. My hostel had a free water station so I never bought bottled water, saved me maybe $15 over the week. I did this for 7 days and spent $6 a day on food total, while the guys in my dorm were dropping $20 on pad thai at sit down spots. Does anyone have a go-to city where the street food scene is this cheap?
