Appreciation post: my $18 hostel in Lisbon turned into a $95 hotel room and nobody told me why
Booked four nights at a place near Rossio for $18 a night in March, showed up and the front desk guy walked me two blocks over to a completely different building with a private room, AC, and a real bathroom. Turns out the owner bought the building next door six months earlier and just started shuffling budget guests into it whenever the cheap rooms filled up, no upgrade fee, no explanation, he just shrugged and handed me a key. Has anyone else gotten quietly bumped to a nicer place like this, or did I just hit some weird off season luck?
