Warning: that vacuum brake bleeder I bought for $30 took me 3 afternoons to get working right
Turns out the cheap check valve was letting air back in the whole time and I finally figured it out after blowing through 2 quarts of brake fluid on my '92 Miata last weekend, has anyone else had to rig up a better seal on those budget kits?

Did you try a dab of silicone grease on the check valve before you put the hose on, or was it leaking through the valve itself?

Man, if I had a dollar for every time I put silicone grease on the wrong thing, I'd own a hardware store. @loganhart, truth is I skipped the grease because I figured the valve was just stuck, not actually leaking through itself. Turns out I was wrong, it was both. Learned that when I took the hose off and got a face full of dirty water. So yeah, next time I'm definitely greasing everything and maybe wearing safety goggles.
