Took me 3 tries to finally paint my bathroom right

My neighbor came over and straight up told me my paint lines looked like a 5 year old did them. She said I was slapping on paint way too thick and not doing proper prep work. I went back and watched a few tutorials, then spent $12 on better tape and some sandpaper. Now I take the extra hour to wipe down walls and tape everything off, and the difference is night and day. Anyone else get roasted by a friend before they figured out their painting method?
