PSA: My local thrift store's paint aisle taught me a wild lesson

I was at Goodwill and saw a can of 'Harvest Gold' paint for $3, so I grabbed it for a side table. It turned out to be from 1978 and was basically colored glue, but mixing it with a $5 sample pot of white from the hardware store saved the whole project. Anyone else have a weird thrift store paint rescue story?

Found a can labeled "mystery green" once.

Mixing old paint is a total gamble. That "mystery green" @william917 found sounds like it could have been anything. I once tried to use some ancient barn red and it never fully dried, just stayed tacky forever. Your mix with new paint was a smart save.
