My sister told me my $15 peel and stick backsplash would look cheap, so I changed one thing
She came over right after I put up the cheap peel and stick tile in my kitchen and flat out said it looked like a rental. I was ready to rip it all down, but she grabbed my hair dryer and showed me how to warm each sheet and press the edges for a few seconds so they actually sit flush. That step alone made a $15 box look like real tile, and then she had me line up the seams with a level instead of eyeballing it. Six months later in my humid Atlanta kitchen, nothing has peeled and two people have asked where I got it done. Has anyone tried the grout pen trick on top of the peel and stick, does it actually look right up close?
Warmed up tile sheets with a hair dryer, huh. That is basically the same trick I use to get old stickers off a pickle jar, so tell your sister she missed her calling in life. But it worked, so who cares. The grout pen thing though, save your money. Up close it looks like someone took a sharpie to the seams and the shine gives it away in kitchen light. Your sister sounds handy enough, make her come back and grout it herself.
