Why does nobody talk about hitting $50 a week on groceries for a family of four?
Last month I finally added up my grocery spending and saw I was hitting around $210 a week for me, my husband, and our two kids. That number kind of freaked me out, so I set a goal to get it down to $50 a week for a full month. I started shopping at the Aldi on the east side of town instead of the big chain store, and I planned out every dinner around what was on sale that week. The first week I made a big pot of bean and rice soup that cost me about $6 total and fed us for three nights. I also started buying frozen veggies instead of fresh because they last way longer and honestly taste fine in stir fries and casseroles. By the end of the month I actually came in at $47 for the last week, which felt like a small win. The biggest surprise was how much I was wasting before by buying stuff without a plan. Has anyone else kept a grocery log like this, and did the savings stick after the first month?
