Stop buying those big $10 bags of rice if you live alone
Tbh I wasted so much money last year on the giant 20 pound bag from the local mart in Austin because I thought it was the best deal. But half of it got weevils after 3 months and I threw most of it out. I started buying the 2 pound bags for $2.50 each and honestly I spend less overall because nothing goes bad. Has anyone else figured out the real cost per meal on bulk stuff when you cook for one?

The whole "big bag = best deal" thing really got me too, I used to defend the 20 pounders like it was my job. But you're right about the math when you actually finish what you buy, I lost count of how many half-eaten bags I tossed after they went stale or got bugs. Smaller bags cost more per pound but way less per meal once you stop throwing food away, so I'm converted now.
