My sister said my rice was mushy and I figured out why
She told me to rinse it quick and not let it soak, and that fixed the texture in two tries. Anyone else get a cooking tip that changed one of their basics?

Oh man, that trick is gold! Once you get the rinse timing down, it's like a whole new grain. I had the same thing with pasta, I used to boil it forever and it came out like glue, then someone told me to pull it a minute early and let the sauce finish the job. Now I do that with rice too, take it off the heat and let it steam in its own heat for a few minutes. It's wild how one small step flips the whole texture, makes you wonder what else we're all doing wrong without knowing it.
